We recently received a call from one of our long standing customers.. and it certainly turned into a memorable one!

Four years ago Finedoor installed two refurbished screens at their asphalt plant and converted the original grease-lubricated screens to a pumped oil lubrication system. The results have been outstanding, significantly extending bearing life compared to the previous grease set up.

The recent request was for the unit’s annual inspection and service – work that is always carried out by Finedoor engineers.

Early on Thursday morning, our Head of Engineering received an urgent call.. a bearing had “gone down” in the asphalt plant. Could we help ? Of course we could!

By midday, two of our engineers were on site. They quickly stripped down the screen, carried out repairs, and fitted a new bearing into a new Finedoor stock housing. The work continued into the early hours, and by the time the machine was back up and running, it was well after 3am before they finally saw their beds.

Undeterred by the long night, they were back at work the next morning, fully prepared to return to site for the rescheduled annual service. The weekend works were completed successfully by Sunday afternoon, and the team finally headed home for some very well earned rest.
